MLA Documentation<\/p>\n
In MLA format, if a writer includes a direct quotation or a paraphrase from another writer\u2019s work, it must be documented. Documentation in MLA format contains two elements: In-text Citation and Work(s) Cited page.<\/p>\n
In-text Citation \u2013 Examples:<\/p>\n
Stephen King begins his essay with the controversial claim that \u201cwe\u2019re all mentally ill\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy We Crave Horror Movies\u201d begins with the controversial claim that \u201cwe\u2019re all mentally ill\u201d (King). <\/p>\n
Staples begins his essay by recounting that his \u201cfirst victim was a woman\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cBlack Men and Public Space\u201d begins with the attention-grabbing announcement that \u201cmy first victim was a woman\u201d (Staples). <\/p>\n
The writer\u2019s name must be included either in the sentence or in the parentheses. <\/p>\n
If the quotation comes from a print source (book, magazine, etc.) then a page number must be included in the parentheses.<\/p>\n
