CULTURAL AWARENESS IN MATERNITY AND WOMEN\u2019S HEALTH CARE PROJECT\u00a0<\/p>\n
The purpose of this project is to gain a deeper understanding of various cultural beliefs which can influence the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Students will select a cultural population from a provided list and present beliefs in relation to the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Students will complete an instructional presentation. Each student in the group must participate in the presentation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Topics to address include the following:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Brief overview of the Culture concerning childbirth\u00a0<\/p>\n
Prenatal Care- (Nutrition, Beliefs, etc.)\u00a0<\/p>\n
Labor\u00a0<\/p>\n
Cesarean Section\u00a0<\/p>\n
Genetic Defects\u00a0<\/p>\n
Newborn and Sick Baby\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Breastfeeding\u00a0<\/p>\n
Postpartum\u00a0<\/p>\n
Any other pertinent findings in regards to care of an Obstetrical Patient\u00a0<\/p>\n
