The two works of art include Sandro Botticelli\u2019s \u2018The Birth of Venus\u2019 and Leonardo Da Vinci\u2019s \u2018The Virgin and Child with St. Anne\u2019. The two pieces of art have a lot of similarities and at the same time have certain differences that make them unique. Both artworks were developed during the Renaissance Period, with \u2018The Birth of Venus\u2019 dating 1485 ca. and \u2018The Virgin and Child with St. Anne\u2019 dating to 1503. Both of them are fine arts of the Renaissance era as they consist of fine details in the images. Despite being from the same movement, they differ in the year of creation with \u2018The Birth of Venus\u2019 being created earlier than \u2018The Virgin and Child with St. Anne\u2019. Regarding the location, they are located in different regions and places. The birth of Venus is located at Uffizi Gallery, an art museum in Florence Italy. \u2018The Virgin and Child with St. Anne\u2019, on the other hand, is located in the Louvre museum in Paris, France. <\/p>\n

\u2018The birth of Venus\u2019 incorporates various elements of arts that include line, form, value, space, color, and Texture. The images on the portrait use a 3D form, the lines are used in the trees, and space has been used to distinguish objects that are close and those that are far. Space has also been used to identify the sky. Light color has been used to indicate space while dark color indicates close objects. The same elements of art have been used in \u2018The Virgin and Child with St. Anne\u2019 painting and they include form, value, texture, color, space, and line. \u2018The Virgin and Child with St. Anne\u2019 image uses a 3D form, lines have been used in the clothing and the ground, and light color has been used to indicate space. Volume has been used to indicate the color intensity both in the image and its background. Regarding the elements of design, both artworks are more similar as they share most of the elements that include form, line, color, space, and value. <\/p>\n
The principles of art used in \u2018The birth of Venus\u2019 include balance, contrast, harmony, variety, and movement. The principle of movement has been used to indicate the direction of action and can be seen in the water moving towards the shore. Balance has been used to indicate equilibrium, there are people on both sides of the Venus that have been used to maintain balance. Harmony has been maintained in the portrait in that objects are placed in the place where they belong for example trees on the land. Emphasis as well has been highly used to indicate the contrast, and this helps in identifying and separating objects that are close together. All the objects are proportional in the portrait. Similar principles of art have been used in \u2018The Virgin and Child with St. Anne\u2019 that includes balance, contrast, proportion, harmony, and variety. The difference between the two artworks is in the movement and contrast. \u2018The Virgin and Child with St. Anne\u2019 has no depiction of movement and uses darker hues which are in contrast to the birth of Venus.<\/p>\n

\u2018The birth of Venus\u2019 uses the media Tempera on canvas with a measurement of 172.5 x 278.5 cm, while \u2018The Virgin and Child with St. Anne\u2019 painting uses oil paint as the medium with the measurements of 1.68\u00a0m x 1.12\u00a0m. The two works are therefore different in that they use different media for the portraits. Besides they are entirely of different sizes. <\/p>\n
Historical analysis <\/p>\n
Both arts were developed during the Renaissance movement. \u2018The birth of Venus\u2019 was influenced by religion as it involves the goddess of love moving on to the land from the sea. \u2018The Virgin and Child with St. Anne\u2019 painting, on the other hand, as well was influenced by religion as it is an image depicts St Anne, her daughter the Virgin Mary and the infant Jesus, a Christian line of religion of the holy family. Regarding the influence, they are both similar regarding religion but as well created for different purposes. \u2018The birth of Venus\u2019 was religious with the emphasis for love while \u2018The Virgin and Child with St. Anne\u2019 was created to show sacrificial love to which Jesus Christ demonstrated by dying on the cross. Jesus is regarded as the sacrificial lamb as God sacrificed his only son for the salvation of the human race. <\/p>\n
Conclusion<\/p>\n
The two works of art are similar and at the same time different in various aspects. They are more similar regarding the elements of arts but somehow differs in the principles of art such as movement. However, they were developed in the same period and this can explain the reason why they are much similar. Another reason why they are similar is that they both convey the theme of love in a religious way.<\/p>\n
