This assignment will help prepare you for the final essays of our course.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sample Annotated Bibliography\u00a0(Links to an external site.)\u00a0(only three sources, but final should have five&#8211;three of those should be scholarly)<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s an Annotated Bibliography?<\/p>\n<p>Annotated bibliographies serve as a guide for research. A \u201cbibliography\u201d is a list of sources writers use to research a specific topic. An \u201cannotation\u201d is an extended description and evaluation of a source. An \u201cannotated bibliography\u201d is a list of sources with a detailed annotation of each source. Take a look at sample annotated bibliographies to get a sense for what an annotated bibliography does and looks like.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>BEAM Requirements\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Write an annotated bibliography of your research so far that includes at least five sources. At least three sources must be\u00a0scholarly sources\u00a0(Links to an external site.).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Using\u00a0the BEAM classification\u00a0(Links to an external site.), your revised bibliography must include sources that you are using in the following ways:\u00a0background source, exhibit sources, and argument sources. A single source can count for more than one of these types of sources, e.g. you might classify one source as both a background source AND an exhibit source.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Annotations\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Each annotation will include the following in a table format:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>MLA Works Cited entry\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>3- to 4-sentence summary of source\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>2- to 3-sentence analysis of the source\u2019s reliability and trustworthiness\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>BEAM Classification with 1-sentence explanation for classification\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>1- to 2-sentence reflection of how the source fits into your research<\/p>\n<p>Please see the sample annotation table on the next page to better understand the different parts of an annotation and the requirements for each.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Grammar and Usage\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A well-written bibliography will use correct punctuation and grammar, avoid sentence-boundary issues, and demonstrate varied word and sentence usage. A perfect bibliography will be free of mechanical errors; a good bibliography will come very close to being error-free. A poor (read: failing) bibliography will annoy the reader with careless mistakes. However, you may revise your bibliography for your Research Paper Final Draft.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Definitions\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Summary:\u00a0Brief statement of main points of source in your own words without commentary or interpretation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Paraphrase:\u00a0Presents detailed section of source in your own words without commentary or interpretation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Analysis:\u00a0Brief explanation of the reliability and trustworthiness of the source that considers elements like author, publication, purpose recency, and bias.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ENG 112 Annotation Format\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Contents: how to structure your annotations<\/p>\n<p>MLA Works Cited\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Summary (3-4 sentences)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What is the main idea and argument of the source? What does it cover?<\/p>\n<p>Analysis (2-3 sentences)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Why should we trust this source?
