Health falls under the discipline of Sociology. I am interested in this topic because Sociology is my major, and Health is one of my focuses in this social science discipline. Therefore, researching \u201cEconomic Impact of Obesity in the United States\u201d will broaden my Sociology knowledge and other social science disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>The topic I have chosen is inherently social, considering it is about the health of people. Besides, it is a social problem since it negatively affects a large population, and it is an issue that needs to be addressed. Obesity is a serious social problem in the United States since it is associated with reduced quality of life, mental health problems, it is one of the leading cause of deaths in the US, and it is related to high costs (medical costs, transportation costs, productivity costs, and human capital costs).<\/p>\n<p>I am going to approach this topic in terms of an economic sense. The disciplinary approach suited for this question I am researching is Sociology and Economics.
