The assignment is an\u00a0opportunity\u00a0for you to\u00a0investigate\u00a0operations management in practice\u00a0and to\u00a0carry\u00a0out\u00a0deeper\u00a0investigations.\u00a0We\u00a0expect\u00a0you\u00a0to\u00a0demonstrate\u00a0further\u00a0reading\u00a0and investigation \u2013 and to compare what you see in your own organization (or an organization of\u00a0your choice) with what is\u00a0written in the academic literature.<\/p>\n
Assignment Brief\u00a0<\/p>\n
Students should select an organization (which you have access to) and work through the following\u00a0subheadings\u00a0relating to\u00a0operations\u00a0within\u00a0the\u00a0organization.\u00a0Students\u00a0should\u00a0write\u00a0a report (using the headings below as a guide) discussing the operations of the organization, and making recommendations for improvement.<\/p>\n
I have suggested some subheadings to consider under each heading \u2013 but these are not exhaustive topics (and you may discuss other things you see as being important). I would advise that\u00a0you adopt a\u00a0reasonably\u00a0formal\u00a0style\u00a0and structure for\u00a0your\u00a0report. Include conclusions. Students should note that they do not need to look at an entire company but instead may decide to focus on a particular business unit or operation. For example, the student wants to look at a large international company \u2013 but only has access to one part of the organization \u2013 this is perfectly acceptable <\/p>\n
