Announcement

University of Dayton is organizing the second dance marathon that is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 19 November at the RecPlex Centre at the University of Dayton campus. A similar event was first staged by at Pen State University in 1973. This will be the second event of this kind after the first one that was held in 1999. Since that event a lot of fund has been raised to the tune of over $200,000 for Dayton children’s.

The main purpose of the event is to help raise funds for the Dayton children’s, for the children’s miracle fund. The event is scheduled to kick off at 12.00 pm and will run through until midnight. The twelve hour event full of events whose main purpose is to act as a fundraiser for Dayton Children’s that is a local miracle network hospital for children. The main activities that will take place during the event are theme dance hours, contests, live music, food and general fun. The funds will be collected in the event.

The dancers and other students will be present in the event not forgetting the patient’s families who will also have the opportunity to share the experience and be part of the event at the hospital with their children. The event will be exciting and has been awaited for by all the participants. The students are constantly practicing and perfecting in readiness for the event.

The main sponsors of the event are Air Credit Union and Just Dance 3 and the local sponsors who have donated food and prizes that will be presented to the dancers in the event. This year’s event is exciting as we are among the five other Universities that are privileged to hold similar event for their respective local children hospital. It is really exciting when you are part of an effort to save lives. The students are active in the collection of funds from family and friends and hence will have an opportunity to present the same at the event.

Registration

Registration for the dance Marathon is ongoing and one can do so by visiting the University of Dayton dance marathon site and complete registration by selecting the ‘register here’ icon where it will provide options suggesting whether you want to register as a team where you will be a captain of the team and help collect donations. The other is where want to join an existing team and help collect donations from friends and family or join as an individual not linked to a team but participate in the activity and eventually help collect donations.

Fundraising

The fundraiser will support the children’s miracle network in its mission of saving lives who will be the custodians of the fund kitty. The funds raised will go a long way in purchasing medical equipments and advanced technology in the provision of best pediatric care to the needy children. The Children’s miracle network is an international non-profit organization that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospital. Its partners include corporate, individuals and media partners that enable the sick and injured kids in local communities. The donations work miracles by funding the medical care, research and education that saves and help better lives of over 17 million children each year. Apart from the collection donations, one can also sponsor a dancer to the event.
