Historical evidence affirms that various campaigns have been carried out in the past in a bit to enhance harmonic living. The most profound amongst these are exemplified by the fight for freedom and democracy. Regardless of the fact that such struggles had adverse effects the wellbeing of the populations; they ensured attainment of peaceful conditions. At this juncture, it is worth acknowledging that populations that upheld freedom and democracy are currently economically successful and stable and have worked relentlessly towards eliminating possible discrepancies. In this consideration therefore, promoting freedom and democracy needs to be at the center stage of initiating peace. These should be enhanced at the national and global levels. Notably, it would be instrumental in eliminating conflicts of interests that undermine harmonic living. Most importantly, it would enhance objective pursuance of individual goals.
Besides this, it would be important to enhance the socio economic wellbeing of the populations. It can not be disputed that conflicts and wars have negatively impacted on various facets of the society. Of great concern however has been their spill over effects on future generations. Failure to address these concerns in a timely manner is likely to pass on the burden of the effects associated with the war to the next generation. This can be prevented through enhancement of global cooperation towards enhancing harmonic co existence.
This should also be extended towards supporting the culture of preventive diplomacy. Not only would this provide the most ideal conditions for developing peace initiatives but it would also ensure that that the initiated projects are not disrupted. This is likely to be compounded by incidences of mistrust especially with regard to the intention of the proponents of the same. To counter this, all parties should be given an equal chance to participate in the initiatives. Furthermore, impartial bodies and personalities can be allowed to spearhead the process. This integrated prescription provides the best procedure for attaining peace as it addresses the fundamental aspects of sustainability that are exemplified by equal involvement of all parties in the process.
