Deaths of children in hospital often occur within the first 24 hours of admission. Most of these deaths are preventable is proper pediatric emergency procedures are followed. The can also be prevented if sick children are identified and appropriate treatment presented to them. Pediatric emergency is a clinical problem since it affects many children and families across the world. Approximately 85 percent of infants who die within 24 hours of being admitted into hospital experience emergency situations and they are not attended to in time. Child mortality is increasingly becoming a medical issue of concern globally. This paper analyzes quality improvement (QI) studies aimed at improving the provision of pediatric emergency services.
