Volunteering
Volunteering is not popular with most people, often because there are no direct benefits associated with the activity. Most of the people in our societies expect to reap benefits from the activities in which they engage. However, on the other hand, there are advantages that some people have realized from volunteering, especially those who are passionate about volunteering activities.
One need friends with him or her in every aspect of life. Because there is nothing, a person can do successfully without the help of a third party or a friend. Research has identified that lonely students often perform the worst because they lack someone to consult or ask in order to get different ideas before doing something. It is also important to note that a person on his own cannot know everything and as such, she or he needs other people for purposes of sharing different experiences in life. Therefore, having more friends in every aspect of life makes life easier because it helps one to understand different characters, and help someone to embrace the importance of society.
. Self-confidence is very important in an individual’s social life. What a person does or hears from the neighbours has a great influence on that particular person. For example, if a pupil in the school lacks self-esteem or self-confidence, he or she will isolate oneself and feels like a reject in society. Therefore, much as having a relationship is paramount, it all starts with an individual’s self-esteem or self-confidence. The confidence one possesses is the supplementary agent in a person’s social life because there is no way a person can engage friends when he or she lacks the confidence.
One of the major reasons why an individual engages in leisure activities is to feel happy. In most cases, activities involved in leisure are interesting and in case someone needs happiness, it is advisable to seek out for leisure. It does not matter whether it is passive leisure or active leisure; as long as it makes someone’s mind free from stress, it brings some section of happiness. For example, in a research carried out by scientists from the University of California in 2002 brought new findings. It was revealed that most people who are in a working class stand high chances of suffering from depression due to persistent stress they meet at work. It is important to feel the happiness, especially during leisure because it is good for one’s health.
A good person can be seen from the deeds he or she leaves behind. People, who enjoy happiness in their lives, often bring happiness to the societies they visit. For instance, footballers, whenever they go to a society, at least some of the things left behind would be things balls and shoes. This is because football is the kind of leisure they enjoy more than the others are. The act of leaving some of the kites used in their favourite sport would certainly leave a mark on the society because any other person who would visit the place can tell that a prominent footballer was in a particular society.
Poverty in a society brings depression together with low self-esteem. There are societies that lack the necessities of life, while at the same time the government has little to offer. However, there are small things in the society that can save such situations. For instance, in India, a Deaf Aid Society Volunteering to offer basic needs like education, shelter, among other needs has helped to heal the depression in pupils that was caused by being disabled. Therefore, such volunteering work, involving giving out to the needy can act as a measure towards depression.
There is nothing that encourages a depressed person like having a sense of belonging. A person living in a foreign land is likely to associate himself with people whom he or she can identify himself or herself. For instance, when a person is facing challenges, say the loss of a relative, the best way of reducing his or her depression is sharing his thoughts and frustration with him or her. Being with the affected person makes such person feel that the people around are part of his life. This means that before someone thinks of other ways of countering depression, a feeling of identity plays a huge role in curing depression.
In conclusion, volunteering has not been embraced by many people in our communities due to individual reasons. However to a larger extent, those who have engaged in volunteering have realized the advantages like gaining experience, curing depression and getting enough of the leisure. It is also thought that even those who have not embraced volunteering, it is because they have not tried it.
