How can the curriculum for Jandrew balance academic objectives and preparation for competitive employment and independent living?
The main focus of the program is to ensure that Jandrew is well prepared for future living which would require him to live independently, acquire a job and manage his finances, as well as, guide himself through the mainstream transport system. His curriculum can, therefore be designed in a manner that will get him ready for future, independent ling and successful employment. For independent living, the curriculum would have to teach him a number of skills. Such skills will include driving, shopping, and using the main transport system. His teacher can, for instance, develop an oral test for him which parallels the same requirements as a driver’s license exam. He must pass this exam. The teacher can also test him in other manners such as giving him state- required or a written test to answer. This will prepare him to drive in the future. To prepare him for future employment, a curriculum can be prepared that ensures that he can use tools and equipment at work safely. He can also be taught how manage his future finances by incorporating in his curriculum tests and examples of how he can plan a budget. He can also be taught how to identify the right support groups on how to properly manage his financials.
What are the goals for Jandrew when he finishes high school?
When Jandrew finishes high school, he should be able to do three main things. These are the goals that his program hopes to achieve with him. These three main goals include: to make sure that Jandrew can move from one place to another without assistance. This can be achieved through ensuring that he obtains a valid driving license before leaving high school and making sure that he has configured the transport system in his city. The other goal is that Jandrew will be able to obtain a job after high school. It is also the goal of the program that he is successful at his job. This is mainly because he will have been trained on a number of safety and relations skills. The next goal for Jandrew after high school is that he will be able to manage his finances successfully.
