Introduction

Exceptionalism is used to describe anything uncommon or outstanding. As a result, the concept of Texas exceptionalism may be seen as both destructive and positive. This is because foreign nations have both good and negative opinions of Texas and its people. Furthermore, there are advantages to living in Texas, such as the lack of an income tax and disadvantages, such as a high crime rate, to consider. However, because the perception of this country and the perspective of Texans are mutually contradictory, this country’s beliefs may be accurate or erroneous. Despite Texas’s uniqueness founded mainly on its mixed economy, politics, and culture, the state’s economics, politics, and culture are all incredibly diverse.

Exceptionalism in Texas

Outside of Texas, residents have varied opinions about the nation and its people positively and negatively. Texas’ economics, culture, and politics are at the root of many of the country’s misunderstandings. The most important sectors of the Texas economy are the extractive industry, the oil industry, and the service sector. People living outside of Texas are encouraged by the state’s booming economy, which is linked to the state’s role as the largest generator of wind energy in the United States and a significant producer of American oil. Although most preconceptions about this state are reasonable, their bulk is negative due to its awful political ruling and culture. First, since I am from Texas, I am more proud to be from the United States than Texas. An ego drives most Texans that their country is better than others, which is quite contrary. It is based on the highest percentage of uninsured children and the non-elderly being from Texas State. Also, I find no pride in being a citizen of Texas since our country has a high level of food insecurity, which can be attributed to the poor political governance in the state (Dean, 2016)

Additionally, the birthrate rate is high, especially among teenagers, which is unappealing since it creates challenges for young mothers. Lastly, although the economy of Texas is relatively stable, most of the industries emit toxic chemicals and substances into the water and air, which is hazardous to the health of its people (Morán González, 2017). Besides, what Texans find aspiring about the country is not significant in mind the challenges its citizens encounter due to weak political systems and policies.

On the other hand, there are contradicting opinions from other states and countries regarding Texas and its people. The perspective of Texans, especially for other states, contradicts each other since, for some, Texans are polite individuals who respect other people regardless of their differences in culture. On the contrary, some countries perceive Texans as egoistic, who think other states aspire to be like Texas (Kelley, 2013). Additionally, other states recognize Texas to be a state with an authoritative political ru, diverse ethnic groups, and inadequate insurance plans for children. There are several pros and cons of living in Texas. One of the pros includes the great employment opportunities available in this country, even when the economy is unstable. There is a pattern of growth in employment creation within Texas, which is favorable to the people living in the country (Dean, 2016). Also, another advantage of living in Texas is that the state has a better taxation policy and rate in comparison to other nations. It allows Texans to file for minimal returns when registering for their annual income. However, there is a negative aspect of living in Texas, such as an ego experience, which is evident among residents. Most Texans view their state as one of the best places in the world and that they are always right, which may create conflict for new residents in the country. Also, the government has had a challenge with increased crime and violence since 2015 due to a lower ratio between officers and the population (Dean, 2016). One of the dreary states in the union is Victoria, a Texas state where there is nothing much to do compared to other cities in the union.

Conclusion

Although Texas has a negative perspective across various states and non-Texans, the pros and cons of living in this country balance each other. Some people would find it appealing to live in Texas due to its stable economy, favorable tax rates, gun policies, and diverse culture. However, such facts about Texas can create an uncomforting environment that makes the country unfavorable to live for others. Nonetheless, despite the positive and negative stereotypes about Texas, Texans are proud citizens of their country and find it to be a perfect place to live.
