I completely agree that developing a creative topic is one of the essential steps in developing the first speech. The presenter needs to take their time to come up with a topic that everybody in the audience relates to. Otherwise, going with any topic can be a recipe for disaster because many people will get bored and stop paying attention if they find it boring. At the end of the day, giving a speech is all about organization, composure, and content. If the presenter does not go out of their way to keep their audiences intrigued, then there is a chance that they will underdeliver. I also think that preparation is key. Presenters need to practice their speech in advance to prepare them for their actual speech delivery.

I could not agree less that having a plan is an important factor that comes into play in speech development and delivery. The best speakers are the ones that take their time to plan and come up with a speech in advance. Even the most experienced speakers often have a plan for every speech they deliver. It does not matter how many times the presenter has given the speech before, they have to prepare as it is their first. Topic selection and creativity take center stage when it comes to speech delivery. One cannot give a speech about controversial topics such as the legalization of safe abortion to audiences such as nuns or church organizations that clearly oppose the same. As such, speakers must only give speeches about topics that their audience will relate to and not irk them. I also think that it is important for speakers to stick to the time allocated for speech delivery. Spending additional time in delivering a speech might come off as rude, and as such, speakers must strive to deliver their speech within the stipulated time.
