Discussion of Exp 1 and 2

1. Write a short summary of the experiment

Copper (II) Chloride is a blue-green solid which when placed in water the crystals turn bright green with a slight blue tinge in water above the crystals. When stirred the crystals dissolve and form a light blue solution.

2. Reflect on three things that you learned conceptually, regarding experiment techniques

1. Describes measurements techniques and methods from which quantitative variation and characteristics are obtained

2. Introduces scale model experiment for the determination of air flow in large spaces

3. Visualization technique for determining the characteristics and properties of phenomena

3. Create three of your own questions regarding the experiment and show the solution of each one of them

1. What happens to the color of copper (II ) chloride solution

Ans: On dilution the color changes from dark brown to green then blue because of successive replacement of chloride ions

2. What happens when copper chloride is electrolyzed?

Ans: Production of copper at the negative electrode

3. What happens when you mix copper chloride and water?

Ans: Copper (II) chloride is a blue-green solid which when placed in water; the crystals turn bright green with a slight blue tinge in the water above the crystals.

Discussion of Exp 3 and 4

1. Write a short summary of the experiment

Ans: Aluminum displaces zinc, copper and iron from their solution.Aluminium is the most reactive metal. Zinc displaces copper, and iron from their solution hence more reactive than copper and iron metal .2. Reflect on three things that you learnt conceptually about experiment techniques.

1. Visualization technique for determining characteristic and properties of phenomena

2. Measurements techniques and methods from which quantitative variation and characteristics could be obtained

3. Introduction of scale model experiment for determination of air flow in large spaces and study of local ventilation

3. Create three questions concerning the experiment and show the solutions of each on of them.

1. What happens when aluminum reacts with aluminum sulphate?

Ans: The reaction that takes place when Zinc is displaced by Aluminum from its sulphate is a Displacement reaction since aluminum is more reactive than zinc

2. How do you distinguish lead (II) ions from aluminum?

Ans: When HCL is added to the lead ions a white precipitate is given

3. Does lead react with Aluminum?

Ans: Aluminum reacts with lead (II) nitrate in which the experiment proceeds slowly due to the coat of Aluminum Oxide .
