Reflect on something that someone has done for you that has made you happy or thankful in a surprising way. How has this gratitude affected or motivated you?

There is this is one situation that I am very grateful for, and I will forever be grateful; I was at a very tough time in my life when I had an opportunity to pause and think about what I genuinely wanted or instead pursue at college. My teacher saw me struggling with some of my subjects, so she suggested that we work one-on-one on these subjects; it felt like a light bulb was turned on inside of me, the sense of accomplishment that we both felt from doing really well in those subjects made me feel really good. Still, she would always ask if there is anything else you would like to continue working on or improving. It might be a little thing, but it has really helped me, and for this reason, I am happy and very thankful to her.

This gratitude has motivated me in various ways. One, I have been helping other students in my class who are struggling with these subjects, and it makes me feel good because they get the privilege of learning at a higher rate than they would if I was not there. I feel like if I help others, then I will eventually be successful. I have become more confident, and I enjoy learning. I can actually see myself studying topics like this in college. I have become determined to learn and better myself more so that my teachers will be proud of me, not only them but also my parents, because they do not have to worry about as much as they did before. This gratitude has allowed me to view school in a different light, and now it is not something that I have to do anymore; it is something that I love doing.

I am grateful for the fact that I can freely go anywhere and do anything; when this was taken from me, then it made me realize what truly matters but also what is truly valuable or somewhat meaningful to me. I have become more motivated to be more patient and kind to others as she always encouraged me to treat others with kindness. This gratitude has really motivated me; it has made me feel good about myself and my capabilities.

However, I am very grateful to my teacher because she has helped motivate me to work harder in other areas that I have been struggling with. This is because I didn’t want to look like a loser in front of her or anyone else for that matter. And lastly, prioritizing my work at school has helped me get through some of the most challenging classes that I’ve taken thus far.
