In my opinion, depression is one of the hardest disorders to live with as it deprives one’s life of happiness, affects the day-to-day functioning of your life, loss of interest, and in extreme cases, might mean ending one’s life. Depression disorder one’s feelings and behavior and, in return, may cause several emotional and physical problems. It is not fair to treat people suffering from depression as emotionally weak. It is possible to recover from it even though the exercise might be intense, demanding, and time-consuming. People might argue that sadness is part and parcel of any normal human being living and experiencing world events. In the case where people lose their loved ones, they might feel sad or depressed. Life challenges might as well lead to depressive disorder, for example, divorce or critical illness. I presume my life is going through tribulations of serious illness. Spending most of my time being hospitalized, not to mention being cut from enjoying my social life; the first thing I would think of is ending my life as troubles and pain persist.
Many years of one’s life can be affected and wasted due to depressive disorder. Depression is not a death sentence and can be treated through medication and psychotherapy. Individuals experiencing the severity of this disorder or even having thoughts of harming themselves self might be required to spend most of their time in hospital during treatment. Other depressive disorder patients might participate in an outpatient program during their treatment until their condition improves. The most commonly known medicine for treating depression is antidepressants. The prescription of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, for instance, works to assisting inhibit the brain’s serotonin breakdown, causing excessive release of this neurotransmitter. Serotonin is responsible for mood. Also, consulting therapists may help the patients suffering from depression to recover. The exercise involves having interviews with your therapist to address issues relating to your condition.
