Subject: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT ADMISSION LETTER
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter to express my interest in the Physician Assistant job opportunity at the (insert name of institution) in (insert name of city). I believe that starting my career at your institution will not only kick-start my career but will also impart me with the hands-on knowledge I greatly require. Moreover, my eagerness to learn, a positive attitude, and innovative skills will be an additional asset to your workforce.
I have undertaken the Medical Terminology Certificate and the Anatomy and Physiology Certificate Courses. The training I received from these courses has equipped me with the knowledge of interpreting medical reports and understanding the functioning of different body systems. From this, I can conduct patient education exercises, physical exams, and can examine and compile a patient’s health history. My educational background also includes Biology/ Biotechnology, Spanish and Public Health. Combined with these courses I am deeply committed to providing effective and high-quality care to the patients while working as a team with my colleagues to diagnose and treat the diverse population of our community.
Besides being interested in Public and Community Health, I exceedingly enjoy mentoring my peers and young adults on a wide array of subjects that affect them such as the adverse effects of drug and substance abuse and the benefits of leading active and healthy lifestyles. I have been an active member of the Albright Women’s Soccer Team where I served as a goalkeeper for four years. Currently, I am a captain in the women’s soccer team. These positions have significantly improved my interpersonal skills since as a goalkeeper, I facilitated communication between my team members. In addition, this position also sharpened by team building skills as I had to coordinate my team for us to win a match. I am therefore great at teamwork and at taking on leadership positions too. Being a captain has taught me how to work with different characters and personalities and how to merge these dissimilar identities into a synergetic team.
My experience as a peer educator has enlightened me especially with issues concerning mental health awareness. Mental health awareness has always been a personal motivation. My father suffers from severe bipolar disorder, and prior to his diagnosis, I was not conversant about mental illnesses and how to overcome this stigma that patients and families undergo. My father’s situation encouraged me to assist other members of my community and country, by educating them about different mental disorders and advocating for patients to seek medical help rather than hiding the illness or waiting for it to subside on its own.
I am passionate about my career as a physician assistant as I genuinely enjoy working in a career that promotes good health and wellbeing for the community. The unique opportunity to become actively involved in the patients’ long-term health goals and the continuity of care is according to me, the very essence of Medicine as a practice. For the two years I have been working as a CPE certified Peers to Peers Educator member, I have had the privilege of teaching my peers about drug and substance abuse, and the detrimental effects this has on your health. This experience has grounded my passion for a career in the medical system. The various cases of alcohol and drug-related illnesses have deepened my understanding of the wonderful and challenging aspects of our nation’s medical system. I have gained extensive experience from volunteering. For instance, I am knowledgeable in the areas of drug and substance abuse, the effects they have on abusers, and the rehabilitation of persons who are heavily-dependent on drugs.
Enclosed with the letter is my resume that contains details of my academic qualifications, contact information, and a copy of testimonials from my places of work for review by the institution’s Human Resource team. I am eagerly waiting for a positive response from you to discuss my application further. Kindly inform me of any further information that may be needed from my side. Thank you very much for considering my application. I look forward to joining your workforce.
Yours Sincerely,
(Insert Your Name)
