AbstractHomelessness has been a menace for the longest time in the United States. The number of people who are homeless seems to keep on rising each and every single day. According to statistics released by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, there are approximately 553,000 people who are considered homeless. Homelessness in the united states are brought about by a couple of factors including lack of employment, high cost of living including rent and people who are not able to find care and love at home thus resorting them into going to the street. War veterans have often been among individuals who have often resorted into staying on the streets and this has often been ascribed to the fact that most suffer from PTSD and they end up fleeing from their homes as they think they are a burden. Tackling the issue of homelessness is important and this paper proposes how homeless people can be given employment opportunities to help them raise a living and are thus able to find a home for themselves. This paper will look at how homeless people can still make a living by picking trash and this can be a basis for them to build their own future.
